Buying And Selling Turnips: Week 13

I have decided that this will be the last week of keeping a weekly track of the turnip buying and selling on Animal Crossing.

The reason is because it has kind of become somewhat monotonous to keep a weekly record. I might do one-offs here and there, but - as far as doing it weekly - this is it.

Sunday July 12th AM

After an extensive search around my island, which seemed like almost half an hour, I managed to find Daisy Mae wandering along the beach.

She was offering the turnips at 97 Bells apiece. 

I have a feeling this will be a week of a big spike, but I still opted to only go with 500 turnips. One reason being I couldn't be bothered to get more Bells out of my savings. I used what I had in my pockets.

To make this even more interesting, seeing as this will be the last weekly turnip post, I am NOT going to use the turnip projection website at all this week. 

I'm going in and out of this blind with the aim of making over 48.500.

Monday July 13th AM

The week has started off with an offer of 85 Bells. 

I am tempted to use the turnip projector, but I'm sticking to my guns.

Timmy and Tommy wanted turnips for 81 Bells each this afternoon. A drop from the 85 Bells from this morning.

74 Bells! This is worrying. Especially with me not having the projector to guide me along the way.

This morning's offer was 70 Bells. Therefore, it was another drop. The descent continued when I visited this afternoon as Timmy and Tommy wanted turnips for 66 \Bells per item.

If I had a larger amount of turnips, I would have certainly decided to offload them at this stage because there doesn't appear to be any sign of a rise. 

I'll go to the end. 

Or until I have something that appeals to me.

Unsurprisingly, the offer was lower than this morning. This time, Timmy and Tommy were willing to pay 52 Bells per turnip. I would have sold by now had I been using the projector.

This afternoon's offer was 45 Bells. I had to sell my stock for the 22,500 Bells.

The week was yet another 'decreasing' one. I ended up losing 26,000 Bells.

Buying And Selling Turnips: Week 12

Last week, the eleventh Animal Crossing turnip selling post was done in diary form. I thought I'd do this week's edition in diary form again and go one further by combining the 'Buying' and 'Selling' posts.

Sunday 5th July AM

I found Daisy Mae outside the museum this morning. She was selling the turnips at 102 Bells per vegetable.

I attempted to buy 2,000 turnips, but realised I didn't have enough so withdrew some more Bells and headed back to the seller to get what I wanted.

I now have to try and make over 204,000 Bells. 

Monday 6th July AM

The first offer of the week was 90 Bells.

I keyed the number into the turnip projection website and it currently predicts that there will be a large spike. The chance it has given is 86.2%, The other possible outcomes - 'decreasing' and 'small spike' - have been given 9.58% and 4.19% respectively.

This afternoon's offer is estimated to be between 84 and 143 Bells.

Monday 6th July PM

The offer turned out to be in the range of 84-143 Bells as predicted.

I put the 86 Bells offer into the projector. It has now given 84.9% to the chance of there being a large spike. This is down from the morning's 86.2% estimate.

The first offer for tomorrow should be between 80 and 143.

Tuesday 7th July AM

This morning's price per turnip was in the predicted range of 80-143 Bells. In fact, it was close to the low end of the estimate - 81 Bells.

The projection for the week now lists a large spike at 83%, a decreasing trend at 12.9% and a small spike at 4.04%.

If I'm going to get the large request from Timmy and Tommy, it's going to happen between Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoon.

As for my second visit of today - the offer should be between 75 and 143 Bells.

Tuesday 7th July PM

This afternoon's offer was 76 Bells. Once again, a Bell higher than the lowest estimate.

The projection website has lowered the percentage on there being a large spike from this morning's 83% into 80.4%. 

The decreasing odds have worryingly risen to 15.6% from 12.9% while the small spike projection is now at 3.91% from 4.04%.

The website is predicting Timmy and Tommy will want turnips at a rate of between 70 and 143 when I visit tomorrow morning.

Wednesday 8th July AM

72 Bells was what Timmy and Tommy are asking for turnips.

I've keyed the offer into the projector and the prospect of a large spike has dropped into 76.5% while the prediction that the offers will decrease across the next visits has increased from 15.6% to 19.8%. A small spike has dipped to 3.72% from 3.91%.

It isn't looking good. If I'm going to have a good week, the big offers should come between tomorrow afternoon and Friday afternoon. 

The prediction for this afternoon is 66 to 143 Bells. 

Wednesday 8th July PM

The afternoon offer was 68 Bells.

The projection website now has the large spike down to 69.6%, the small spike down to 3.38% and 'decreasing' at 27.1%. 

Friday AM and PM is now the period where there will be a spike. IF it happens.

An estimate of 62 to 143 Bells is being made for tomorrow morning's visit.

Thursday 9th July AM

As per usual, this morning's offer was very close to the low end of the prediction. 

After putting the offer of 63 Bells into the predictor, it increased the chance of this being a decreasing week from yesterday's 27.1% to 42.6%. That is a huge leap and makes me wonder whether it's time to sell.

It is time to sell, but I'm going to stick it out a while longer.

The 'large spike' is now at 54.8%. This is down from yesterday's 69.6%. A 'small spike' is now down to 2.66% from 3.38%.

It does not look good. Again.

I'll get an offer ranging from 57 to 143 Bells this afternoon. My guess is it'll be 58 Bells, but we'll see.

Thursday 9th July PM

This afternoon's offer was 58 Bells. My guess was on the ball.

After putting the number into the projector, there was a huge shift. The 'Decreasing' pattern went right up to 100%.

I was forced to sell the two thousand turnips for a loss of 88,000 Bells.

What another disaster this week turned out to be.

Trying Out Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards

If there is one thing you'll learn from my posts about Animal Crossing, it'll be that I am very new to the game.

A thing you won't know, but will by the end of this post, is that - even though I knew about Nintendo Amiibo cards - I had never ventured into that part of game playing.

Well, not until recently.

For those who aren't completely aware what they are - and remember, I don't know THAT much either - they are cards/standees that can be held beside controllers to get extra things on certain games.

I found out that Animal Crossing has its own Amiibo cards. It's possible to get a card with a character on it and then have that character visit your island.

There was a character I had my eyes set on, but couldn't find their card available on Ebay. However, I did find a bird named Lucha that looks like a Mexican wrestler. 

I had to buy that card.

And so I did.

It cost me a fiver.

Once the card arrived, I scanned it above my controller and Lucha became a visitor to my island.

Despite a few attempts, he didn't become an island regular.

With the one-card experience under my belt, I thought I'd purchase a packet of cards from Game. I can't recall exactly how much it cost, but it was somewhere in the region of £12 and £14.

Here's what the packet looked like when it came through the post a few days later.

Remember I paid between £12 and £14 for the cards? Well - I thought I would get more than what I had in them.

Three cards came in the set.

The first Amiibo was of Blathers. He's the museum's curator, so I don''t see the point of having his card as I already have him as a resident on my island.

It got better. I think.

The next card was of Paula. A character I haven't seen in the game before, so I guess that was a result.

The third, and final, card in the packet was of an.. err.. animal named Beardo. To be fair, I think he looks cool. However, I doubt I would have bought him if I knew what I was buying.

I haven't invited any of the new Amiibos to my island. Yet. When I do, I might try and coax them to become island regulars. I'm unsure how successful this will be considering I couldn't get Lucha interested in making the move.

Selling Turnips: Week 11

For the past number of weeks, I've published weekly updates about my adventures buying and selling turnips on Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch. 

It has been fun to keep track of my performance, but I thought I'd do something different this week and cover the week of attempting to sell my turnips in diary form.

Monday Morning (June 29)

As you can see in the image below, I've kept the five thousand turnips I bought on Sunday close to the shop to ensure a smooth delivery once I have a decent offer from Timmy and Tommy.

I made my first visit moments after taking the picture above. The offer was 81 Bells. Not good enough right now. I need anything over 94 Bells per item.

After the visit, I put the 81 offer into the turnip projector. It is suggesting that there is a 62.4% chance of a large spike sometime this week. I'll need to keep checking into Nook's Cranny and getting offers to get a better gauge on when the big spike will take place.

It should be worth noting that the projector has given 31.2% chance of my offers lowering across the days and there being a 6.37% chance of there being a 'Small Spike'.

For now, I look ahead to the afternoon visit. It looks like the offer will range from 76 to 132 Bells.

Monday Afternoon (June 29)

The prediction turned out to be accurate because Tommy offered me 77 Bells. 

I have put the 77 offer into the projector and it is pointing to a large spike coming along somewhere between Wednesday morning and Friday afternoon.

As for tomorrow - the projection for the morning visit is 72 to 132 Bells. 

Tuesday Morning (June 30)

It was another spot on call from the turnip projector as this morning's offer was 73 Bells. That's one out yet again. 

The projector has now given the 'Decreasing' trend a 38.8% chance. That is looking like what's happening. However, it has the 'Large Spike' at 55.5% so I will ride it for the time being.

Thursday afternoon to Friday  afternoon is where it currently points to big numbers. 

As for this afternoon, the prediction is 68 to 132 Bells. If I were a gambling man (yeah, okay), I'd guess that - going by the trend - the offer could be 69 Bells. If so, I might be in trouble as it would be another decreasing number.

Tuesday Afternoon (June 30)

The afternoon offer was close to my guess of 69 Bells. It was 70.

I have a feeling this is going to be a 'Decreasing' week. I now have a 50.6% chance of a large spike and it's 44.3% on the offers falling every time I visit.

If it's going to be a good week, Thursday and Friday will be when the fortune comes. Apparently.

Wednesday Morning (July 1)

Things have gone downhill. Again.

This morning's offer was 66 Bells per turnip.

I've keyed the number into the projector and it has now flipped to giving this week a 'Decreasing' one. The chance of it being one is now at 51.4% while the one that was in the fifties yesterday - 'Large Spike' - is now at 44.1%.

The afternoon offer will confirm it. 

As it currently stands, the 'Decreasing' forecast for after midday is 61 to 64 Bells. If it lands on any of those numbers, I am confident that this will be where I'll have to take the hit and sell. 

The large spike projection is 85 to 132 Bells. If the offer is in that range, then I will hold on, but - as I sit here right now - I am sure this will be a bad week.

Onto this afternoon!

Wednesday Afternoon (July 1)

My fears turned out to be accurate - the afternoon offer was 62 Bells per turnip.

After finding out how much Timmy and Tommy wanted, I had a look at the projection website and it had given the chance of it being a 'Decreasing' week at 61.4%.

The offers for the rest of the week had a guaranteed minimum of 57 Bells while the guaranteed maximum was 60 Bells.

Even though 35.1% was given to the chance of there being a large spike, I thought it was not worth the gamble any more.

It was time to sell.

I offloaded the turnips for a return of 310,000. That's a loss of 160,000 Bells. Without a doubt, it is the worst hit I have ever had with this turnip selling lark.

Buying Turnips: Week 11

On Animal Crossing yesterday, Daisy Mae did what she usually does on a Sunday and visited my island in order to sell turnips.

I did what I usually do and bought some.

Actually, I did more than buy 'some'. 

I bought what I would consider a lot of them, when contrasted with the amount I usually end up with after a meeting with Daisy Mae.

As you can see, the character was offering the veggies at a price of 94 Bells each. 

I initially ordered two thousand, but then had a change of mind. I dropped the turnips I had in order to make room in my pockets.

I was going on a spree. And then some.

In the end, I made a couple more visits to Daisy Mae and ended up with a total of five thousand turnips that are now ready to be sold on this week.

Anything above 470,000 will turn(ip) a profit. Something I failed to do last week.

Selling Turnips: Week 10

I had another losing week when it came to selling turnips on Animal Crossing.

As noted earlier this week, I bought one thousand turnips at a price of 101 Bells per turnip. I therefore had to try to sell them off at Nook's Cranny for at least 101,001 Bells.

I checked in twice a day. Here's how it went from Monday to Thursday.

MON AM: 74 Bells

MON PM: 64 Bells

TUE AM: 60 Bells

TUE PM: 100 Bells

WED AM: 71 Bells

WED PM: 62 Bells

THU AM: 96 Bells

THU PM: 99 Bells:

I was using the turnip projector and, by Thursday, it was predicting I would get offers ranging from 91 to 142 Bells. I checked in on Friday morning and was met with:

100 Bells...

I entered the offer into the projector and it once again came back with a forecast of 91 to 142 Bells. I decided it was time to cash in for the loss as I was unsure whether the next offers would be lower than the 100 Bells. All I knew was they would start at 91 Bells and had the potential of reaching 142.

I was only down 1,000 Bells. 

It could have been worse. It sure could have been better.

Buying Turnips: Week 10

I bought more turnips from Daisy Mae on Animal Crossing yesterday.

This time, the character was selling them off at 101 Bells per turnip.

I ended up buying one thousand of them.

I now have to try and sell them on this week with the look to make at least 101,001 Bells profit. 

Last week saw me make profit after there was a small spike in offers from Timmy and Tommy in the Nook's Cranny store. I don't know what to expect this week. That's why I decided to only buy one thousand this week.

For the time being, my stock is all stored away and ready for the days ahead.

Selling Turnips: Week 9

If you read last week's edition of 'Selling Turnips', you'll be aware that I made a loss when selling selling the vegetables to Timmy and Tommy in Nook's Cranny. Therefore, it was a goal to do better this week.

And that I did.

After buying 1,800 turnips - at a cost of 102 Bells per item - on Sunday, my goal for this week was to make at least 183.601 Bells from selling this week.

I did what I usually do and check in with Timmy and Tommy twice a day and then key in their offers on a turnip predictor website. By Wednesday morning, the projector guessed that Thursday afternoon would be the time to sell.

After checking in on Thursday morning, the projector was confident that the afternoon offer would beat the morning offer and would be the best price I would get. 

I visited later that day. 

195 Bells per turnip was indeed better than previous offers for the week. They were:

Mon AM - 73 Bells

Mon PM - 68 Bells

Tue AM - 64 Bells

Tue PM - 59 Bells

Wed AM - 111 Bells

Wed PM - 139 Bells

Thu AM -  190 Bells

I still placed the numbers into the projector to see whether there was a chance of a better offer later in the week (even though I doubted it!) and it said that Friday morning would range between 142 and 194.

195 Bells was the deal of the week.

It was time to sell.

I headed back home and sat down on my new baseball mitt chair. I then went ahead and packed up my turnips to sell to the two animals at the shop.

If I'm not mistaken, that's 167,399 Bells profit for the week.

Not bad...

Buying Turnips: Week 9

I bought more turnips from Daisy Mae on Animal Crossing yesterday.

The seller was offering one turnip at 102 Bells. 

I loaded up and bought 1,800 of them.

I now have to try and make profit by selling my stock to Timmy and Tommy - in Nook's Cranny - when the price is right by Saturday evening.

Anything over 183,600 will be better than the poor result from last week which saw me end up in the red.

Selling Turnips: Week 8

I had an unsuccessful experience selling turnips on Animal Crossing this week. 

As noted earlier this week, I bought one thousand turnips from Daisy Mae on Sunday. They were priced 105 Bells, so I had to try and offload them to Timmy and Tommy for profit by Saturday.

Just like I've been doing each week, I have been using a turnip projector to work out when the best time to sell would be.

Here's how the offers came in.

Monday AM: 90 Bells

Monday PM: 85 Bells

Tuesday AM: 80 Bells

Tuesday PM: 75 Bells

Notice how it was decreasing by five every time I checked in? Well, it was on track to get worse as the projector gave it 80% that the decrease would continue. It gave a large spike an 11.4% chance.

It meant one thing.

It was time to sell. This time at a loss.

I headed back to the house, picked up the one thousand turnips, ran back to Nook's Cranny and sold the vegetables 

This turned out to be a 30,000 loss for the week. I think this might have been the first week I've been in the red. If not, it is - at most - the second time.

I must do better next time.

Buying Turnips: Week 8

Yesterday was the eighth time I've bought turnips from Daisy Mae on Animal Crossing.

I now have until Saturday to offload them for profit.

After catching up with the vegetable seller yesterday morning, I was told I could buy the stock at 105 Bells per turnip.

With last week's turnip selling being very successful because I had a huge offer from Timmy and Tommy - in Nook's Cranny - I had a feeling that this will be a week of low offers. Despite this, I did the same as week seven and bought one thousand of the vegetables.

So, the game for this week is to try and make anything over 105,000 Bells.

Selling Turnips: Week 7

After spending 98,000 Bells on 1,000 turnips on Sunday, it was my job to - once again - to offload them for profit by the end of the week on Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I had another successful experience using a turnip projection website that predicts when will be the best time to sell the vegetables to Timmy and Tommy in Nook's Cranny.

The goal was to sell at a price anywhere above the 98 Bells I purchased them for from Daisy Mae on Sunday. 

The offers, went like as follows.

Mon AM: 84 Bells

Mon PM: 81 Bells

Tue AM: 90 Bells

Tue PM: 186 Bells

After keying in Tuesday afternoon's offer into the projector, it told me that there was a good chance of an offer higher than 186 if I waited until Wednesday morning. Its estimate was between 196 and 586 Bells.

I held off on selling at 186 Bells, visited the shop on Wednesday morning and the offer was:

451 Bells!

Even after a high offer, I put the number into the projector to see if it recommended another hold. I doubted it would, but I wanted to be sure.

It said that the Wednesday PM offer would be between 138 and 196 Bells and the Thursday morning one would range between 89 and 138 Bells.

In what might turn into a catchphrase on these 'Selling Turnips' posts - IT WAS TIME TO SELL.

I headed back to my house, picked up the turnips I had held in storage from Sunday and went back to Nook's Cranny to sell my stock.

That's 353,000 Bells profit I was able to make this week.

After seven weeks of playing with the 'Stalk Market', I've managed to return 1,351,660 Bells. I know this because, after selling this week's batch, I was informed that I had earned some Nook Miles for selling over 1,000,000 since I began the game. 

As you'll see below, the next time I can earn some Miles for this part of the game, will be when I make back 10,000,000 Bells. 

The new milestone seems a long way off.

Buying Turnips: Week 7

It was another Sunday of turnip buying on Animal Crossing: New Horizons over the weekend.

This time, Daisy Mae was selling turnips at 98 Bells apiece. 

As you can see, I decided to purchase 500 of them spending 49,000 Bells in total.

However, after storing my 500 turnips away in preparation to sell them next week, I decided to go back to Daisy Mae and purchase more.

I opted to round things up and bought another 500 turnips. This brought my total spend to 98,000.

So, for next week, the goal is to ensure I offload the vegetables for a price of at least 99 Bells per turnip. As per usual, I'll use the turnip projection website to work out when could be the most opportune time to sell.

I want to see 'em rise in order to earn a nice surprise...

Selling Turnips: Week 6

In an Animal Crossing turnip update for week 6, I was able to sell off my turnips for profit on Thursday morning.

As I wrote earlier this week, I purchased 680 of the vegetables at a cost of 92 Bells meaning I had to make over 62,500 Bells in order to count the week as a profitable one.

I made visits to Timmy and Tommy - at Nook's Cranny - every morning and afternoon to check on the price of turnips. Here's how the offers went before I took Thursday's offer.

Mon AM - 47 Bells

Mon PM - 44 Bells

Tue AM - 41 Bells

Tue PM - 85 Bells

Wed AM - 114 Bells

Wed PM - 132 Bells

The reason why I didn't deal with the Wednesday offers is because I was using the turnip projector. It guessed that Thursday would see me offered somewhere in the region of 132 to 184 Bells. 

I checked in on Thursday morning. The projection was spot on.

145 Bells!

Despite the offer meaning I was looking at profit, I added the number to the projector to see if it estimated a higher number in the latter part of the week.

It came back indicating that Thursday's afternoon offer would be between 128 and 144 Bells. This meant one thing.

It was time to sell. 

I sold all 680 turnips for 145 Bells each and returned 98,600 Bells. I make that a profit of 36,040 Bells.

I checked back in later that day to see whether the afternoon offer. As noted, the projector said I would get an offer from 128 and 144. It was once again spot on as they wanted to buy turnips from me at 142 per item.

It's getting to the point now where the projection website is a beneficial tool in selling the vegetables. I think it's time to consider buying a whole lot more when Daisy Mae next comes a-calling.

Buying Turnips: Week 6

It was another Sunday yesterday.

Therefore, it was another day to buy turnips from Daisy Mae in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

After spending a fair amount of time looking around for her, I managed to find the turnip seller and found out that she was selling turnips for 92 Bells each.

As you can see, I bought 680 of them. 

I now have to try and offload them at a higher price than what I bought them for. Anything over 62,560 Bells - from Timmy and Tommy at Nook's Cranny - will be a plus.

As per usual, I'll share my experience by the end of the week. 

And if I don't... I'll have 680 rotten turnips on my hands!

Rex Leaves

This week saw the first villager leave my island on Animal Crossing.

Here's how it went down - a few days ago, Hamlet - the hamster that was there with me from day one - came up to me and told me he was thinking of leaving.

I didn't want an island original to walk out on me, so I told him to stay. However, I did so with an idea in mind - I was going to allow whoever came up to me next with a similar request to leave.

Days later, Rex the Lion came up to me and said he was thinking about leaving. I wished him well.

And then the bloody character gave me a wrestling costume and I immediately regretted the decision.

Rex was the first animal I invited to the island, so - in hindsight - I should have kept him. I liked the way he would call me 'cool cat'. It reminded me of Carole Baskin from The Tiger King.

I visited Rex on his last day. He was packing up. Here's how our interaction went:
