Burt Young

A lot of people have been sharing their tributes to Burt Young since news of his passing broke yesterday morning.

The most obvious person I looked out for was Sylvester Stallone because the pair worked together on all of the Rocky movies with Young playing Rocky Balboa's friend, and eventual brother-in-law, Paulie.

Paulie was one of the best characters in the franchise. I shared my annoyance that Paulie was killed off between the events of Rocky Balboa and the first Creed movie when I wrote about the film in 2016. 

My opinion still hadn't changed a couple of years later, when Creed II was in production.

Young was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for the role of Paulie at the Academy Awards ceremony in 1977. He was up against his Rocky co-star - Burgess Meredith - which was a fifteen-rounder in itself. The honour went to Jason Robards for All The President's Men.
