What a finish it was to last night's season opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens.
In the closing moments of game, with the Ravens 20-27 down, the team appeared to have scored a touchdown with seconds to spare.
Lamar Jackson's throw had been caught by tight end - Isaiah Likely - in the end zone. The refs called it a touchdown and I was looking to cash in my first bet of the season, a small punt on Baltimore +3, because John Harbaugh appeared to want to go for the win by calling for a two-point coversion rather than go for the PAT to send the game into overtime.
For those split seconds, I was glad Harbaugh was going for the gamble. Whether it converted or not, I was guaranteed a win. I've been critical of Harbaugh for his two-point decisions in the past (in THIS POST and THIS POST) but this hypocrite wasn't going to complain last night if he went for it rather than play conservative for the tie and journey into OT.
Alas, the two-point call didn't happen. Neither did the PAT for that matter.
Video evidence showed that Likely/s toe was touching out of bounds, so it was not a touchdown.
Look how close it was. Inches.
If only Likely had smaller feet!
