Lookalikes?

I thought about one of my old friends a week ago. I haven't seen him since the early 2000s because - the last I heard about him - he had moved overseas.

Or, to be accurate: 'over the sea', because he's in either Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland. My guess is the former.

Either way, I was sitting in my living room late last week as my nephew was preparing to go to a friend's home for a sleepover. Seeing him get ready recalled many a Friday night spent with a bunch of friends at David's.

And then, I put the thought aside. Little did I know I'd be thinking about him again a day or so later.

The thing which triggered me to recall David once more was hearing the news that Troy Beckwith, who portrayed Michael Martin on Neighbours during the early 1990s, had passed away.

Michael was Philip Martin's tearaway son who caused a lot of trouble for the Martin/Robinson Family.

In a post published last year, during what was then believed to be the final week of Neighbours, I noted how Ian Rawlings (Philip Martin) looked (and still does look!) like a man who lives three doors down from me. Well, I could have placed my friend side-by-side with my.. Neighbour... because he looks (looked?) vaguely like Troy Beckwith.

As I was in the middle of writing this post, I recalled I do have a 'picture' of David from when we were on TV meeting the British Bulldog in 1993. 

I don't really know if you can completely see the likeness in the grainy photo grabbed from the video, but - to our little gang - we noticed a similarity between our friend and the Neighbours character back in the day.

Beckwith was only a few years older than me, so it's sad to see someone in my generation pass on. Especially after what is reported to have been cancer.
