Buffering, Buffering, Buffering

I usually wake up in the early hours of the morning and turn on an American radio station to listen to to make me drop back off to sleep.

It's usually a host interviewing stars of sport and I sometimes get lucky in knowing who is being interviewed.

There are lots of times, however, where I am listening to something I have no knowledge of. This morning was not one of those occasions.

The guest was Shaun Assael who was on to promote his book - Sex, Lies & Headlocks: The Real Story of Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation.

I read this book way back in 2000 and, from what I recall, was a decent biography of Vince McMahon.

The only negative I can write about it is it's definitely outdated with it being over ten years since it was written.

The interview started off well although the nitpicker in me did notice Assael got a few years wrong when describing key moments in WWF history.

And then the buffering began.

I couldn't catch the flow of the conversation as the iPhone app began buffering. Ironically, with the book being published in 2000 it felt like I was listening to an Internet stream from the same timeframe with the amount of stop-and-start I was experiencing.

It was 56K modem time all over again.

The problem was finally resolved after ten minutes and I was laying there listening once more until it stopped dead in its tracks.

The thirty minute sleep timer I had set had kicked in.

Typical!
