Mania XL - Night One Thoughts

I have a very slight sore head, because I was up late watching WrestleMania XL, but it's all good.

The first night was very enjoyable. It had some excellent stories and some not so great (Usos, I'm looking at you!).

The Rhea Ripley .vs. Becky Lynch match - which opened the show - was brill. Becky's ring attire was inspired by her recently published autobiography. It had the same font as the book's title - The Man - on the arms and then, across her midsection was what looked like quotes from the book.

Whoever came up with the design (and I'm sure it was Becky herself) gets two thumbs up.

I liked seeing Sami Zayn vanquish the monster in Gunther ending the Austrian's lengthy reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion.

I kind of had low expectations for the night one main event. With Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes all wrestling tonight, I thought they'd take it somewhat easy. I even didn't think The Rock would do too much because he begins filming a new movie soon. All four pulled out all the stops.

Excellent night.

And it starts back up for night two later.
