With Christmas on its way, the people at Heinz have brought out a festive edition in their range of baked beans.
I had to get myself a tin. Or two.
As you can see, in the image above, the beans come with pigs in blankets using Richmond sausages wrapped in bacon.
I wanted to amp up the Christmas theme with my beans on toast meal, so - instead of regular bread - I opted for a few slices of a cranberry and toasted pecan bacon that can currently be found at Marks and Spencer.
I buttered the bread. I didn't bother to toast it.
Once I warmed up the beans, I placed them on top of the bread and tucked in.
The meal was a bit of change from a regular sausage and beans on toast in only one aspect and that's the fact I didn't use regular toasted bread. Everything else felt.. normal.
The label on the tin states that there is meant to be a 'Christmas seasoning', so I expected a fruitier taste. Or something. I didn't get that. It simply felt like a usual baked beans and sausages.
I was disappointed. A pure gimmick.
But, then again, isn't it always?
