Once he was announced for the post, early last week, I read a fair bit of criticism from people who should know better.
Certain people argued that the English Football Association should have given the job to a native rather than a German coach.
Ironically, most of those same people wanted Gareth Southgate gone after he did relatively well as coach of the England squad.
To those I say this: You cannot have it both ways.
Tuchel could very well have been the best man for the England job at the time the FA was looking for someone.
I think he's a great coach and I'm intrigued to see how he does.
But, let's not ignore the nay-sayers. They've already got their knives sharpened as they wait for their 'I told you so' opportunities.
They did it with Sven. And Fabio. They'll do it with Thomas. Like clockwork.
