More Wins Than Losses

To the right is a hand-made betting slip I always do on a weekend.

It usually looks a lot worse than this. The current example has more green circles than I am used to doing. It's usually full of red Xs.

This weekend saw a great result for yours truly.

To start, I did a bet on a college football game on Thursday night. I placed £11 on Kansas State to beat Kansas by more than three points.

The final score ended up being 59-7 to Kansas State. I made £10 profit.

As I had won two days earlier, I decided to up the ante on my usual £20 bet and make it a £30. I picked ten selections and am now going to run down what I picked and how I won (or lost).

Schalke v Stuttgart OVER 2.5

The game ended 2-2 so I got off to a great start with this being the first selection on the bet.

Atletico Madrid v Getafe OVER 2.5

The first loss of the weekend as Atletico Madrid won 2-0. It was one of those games where I was holding my breath waiting for one more goal. The wait was in vain, however.

Texas Tech -3

This was a 'Game of the Year' tip that I was given. I am always cautious when betting on college football as I don't really know all the teams and players. I put faith in this game due to the tip being the best one offered for the season. It lost. I don't even remember how much they lost by. Let's just say that, when I looked, the team were 14-0 down and I gave up hope there and then.

Manchester City to win

I would have to say this was a lucky result. City went 1-0 up in the sixty-seventh minute. They then let in an equaliser almost ten minutes later. Seconds after that, Carlos Tevez put Manchester City ahead once again. The final score was 3-2 to City.

FC Copenhagen to win

They won 5-0. Enough said.

Pittsburgh -13.5

Cleveland gave Pittsburgh a tough three quarters of a game and it wasn't until late in the game that I was able to circle this game as a winner. The Steelers won 28-10.

Detroit +10

This was my favourite bet going in to the weekend as I felt the Lions were going to give the New York Giants a scare. Detroit have been playing hard and covering the point spread as underdogs this season. I felt they were a good pick. Detroit lost the game 28-20 so they covered the spread by two points.

New York Jets -3

This was another close one. Had it not been for a pass interference call late in the game when the Jets were losing and on fourth and six, I would have lost. The penalty gave the team field position right in the red zone and they converted a touchdown and PAT to make the game 24-20 in their favour.

Dallas @ Minnesota to have OVER 44.5 points

Two 1-3 teams fighting it out. It had 'SHOOTOUT' written all over it. I wasn't wrong - the game ended up being 21-24 to the Vikings. I covered the total by half a point!

Indianapolis @ Washington to have OVER 44 points

This was the final selection on my bet and was also the final game to be played last night. I recorded it to watch when I woke up but couldn't resist checking out the final score. The Colts won 27-24. I covered by seven points.

I ended up making £93.77 profit. Not bad at all.
