Favourites

Do you ever wonder back to your childhood and notice how many times you attached 'my favourite' to a lot of things?

You probably don't know where I am going so bear with me.

What I mean is, back then you would be enjoying a book or film and would say 'it's my favourite (book or film)'.

Don't tell me I am wrong.

I have noticed my nephew does the same thing at his age.

The latest video game he is playing is his 'favourite'. Give him the next new game to come out and that will become the new favourite.

He does it with meals, movies, television shows and everything and anything else I can think of.

I was the same when I was his age.

I bet you were, too.

At what age do we stop doing this and is there now a longer span of time for older people to disregard things they cherish as their favourite before they go on? Is my favourite song or meal from seven years ago still the same today? Is my favourite movie from the '80s still top in 2010?

When I was a young child, Manchester United were my favourite football team. Nowadays, I would never admit to liking them.

Whoops, too late.
