I was in an $8 tournament on Blue Square Poker with over 300 players and lost after nearly two hours of play. The queens were my downfall.
I was playing great. I was in the top tier of the leaderboard for a majority of the game and was playing a strict and tight style ensuring I didn't lose big pots.
I had the queens and thought that it was time to double up when I had gone down to $8,000. The player to my right who had taken $7,000 from me in an earlier hand raised and then I went all-in hoping he would call me.
He called and turned over a pair of jacks. At that point I was in the lead and I raised my arms in victory. My elation turned to despair when another jack came out in the flop and, to add insult to injury, another jack showed up on the river.
I left the tournament in 42nd place so missed the pay out by 12 places.
Those damn queens!
