The Peanut Butter Shreddies Situation

It was exactly six days ago, when I published a post announcing my excitement at finding out Nestle had brought out a brand new breakfast cereal that piqued this peanut butter lover's interest.

The food firm had revealed, in an email, that it launched a peanut butter version of its Shreddies cereal. I was all-in. In fact, I was so all-in  I actually placed an order in the midst of writing the post.

Unfortunately, it was downhill from there.

The order was placed on Amazon. I decided to buy from there because it was £3 as opposed to the then current price of £3.50 from the only other business I could see the item for sale - Sainsbury's.

I waited all day Friday for the delivery. By late evening, I noticed it was 'Delayed, but still arriving today' so I continued to hold out hope. That was dashed when Friday became Saturday and - by that afternoon - the product still hadn't been dispatched. I cancelled, but placed another order immediately.

The parcel arrived early on Sunday evening. I opened it up, to finally snag my box of Peanut Butter Shreddies.

But, no.

They had sent me a box of Bitesize Shredded Wheat instead.

I contacted Amazon's AI customer service facility. It asked if I wanted a refund or replacement. I obviously chose the latter. It told me to keep the incorrect product. I was then informed that the new order would be delivered by Wednesday.

That was true. It came yesterday. As soon as the parcel was handed to me, I tore off the strip, and pulled out my....

DAMN BITESIZE SHREDDED WHEAT.

Bitesize Shredded Wheat

Yes, the mistake was repeated. Whatever happened to third time lucky? I am now the proud (?) owner of not only one, but two boxes of a breakfast cereal I have no inclination to ever try. I hated Shredded Wheat as a child. Don't believe me? Well, READ THIS.

I made sure to get to a real person at Amazon to explain what had happened. After three mess ups, there's evidently something wrong with their system. I suggested to the customer rep that they should alert their managers of the issue. It fell on deaf ears. Or rather: blind eyes.

I took the refund. I couldn't go through the wait and annoyance caused by receiving Bitesize Shredded Wheat for a third time. Fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me. And all that.

Plan B is to hold out hope on Peanut Butter Shreddies popping up at Asda.
