Judging Covers

Stephen King's new book was published today.

It's a collection of short stories titled 'You Like It Darker'. I preordered an exclusive edition from WH Smith's earlier this year, but it does not look like it has been dispatched. But, that's not the main things I'd like to focus on right now.

First - I am keen to read this book, when I get to it, because one of the stories in it is a sequel to Cujo. To be fair - considering Cujo is set in Castle Rock - there have been other novels after the 1981 release. However, this story appears to be a direct sequel.

The second thing I'd like to do is share my feelings on the book's cover. Specifically the US edition.

Look at what they have over there.

You Like It Darker (US)

How brilliant is that? It looks even more superb when you see what the UK has.

You Like It Darker (UK)

Not so impressive in contrast.

Every now and again, I've seen Constant Readers - based in the US - state they believe the UK covers are better than their counterparts. Not in this case, the US wins hands down on this one.
