X = XXX

Yesterday was the thirtieth anniversary of WrestleMania X.

First thought - doesn't time fly?

Second thought - what a great show.

Teenage me was in my element - as a wrestling fan - back then. I was gifted to see the opening classic between Bret 'Hitman' Hart and his brother: Owen. Later in the show, Bret would win the WWF Championship from Yokozuna in the main event. The win for Owen would allow the siblings to battle for the belt post-Mania.

The other huge bout on that March 20 1994 card was the ladder match to determine the undisputed WWF Intercontinental Champion. Razor Ramon, who won the title in the latter part of 1993 following Shawn Michaels' suspension, beat Michaels - who had returned months earlier brandishing the strap and claiming to have never lost it inside the ring.

It was a magnificent match.

WrestleMania X came around at such an important time for me as a follower of pro wrestling. It for sure was another help in cementing my interest in the 'sport'.
