Something really cool, and something I never thought I would ever see happen (even though I wasn't there), took place in Wales yesterday.
The World Cup trophy landed in Cardiff and was shown to a group of people who had won the privilege to do so in a promotion ran by FIFA and Coca-Cola.
It was shown on my local news yesterday evening. That was the first I had heard of the trophy's visit to my home country.
The tour will see the trophy travel to every single country that has qualified for this year's World Cup tournament. I believe England is today's stop.
I am sure I've written many times in the past that the World Cup trophy is my favourite sporting trophy ever. Yes, I even value it more than the winged-eagle WWF Championship belt a lot of heroes from my childhood fought over!
While watching the World Cup travel to Wales, I still found myself shaking my head at the reality that Wales is playing in the tournament. I never ever thought it would happen in my lifetime.
