The Spinoff That Will Never Be

I watched the most recent episode of The Equalizer on Sky Witness a few nights ago.

In the story, a couple of characters were introduced. I thought to myself 'I wonder if this is one of those in-show pilots which will spinoff into a new series?'

Well - I was right. And wrong.

It was indeed a 'backdoor pilot', as they call it in the industry. 

I found that out by Googling 'Equalizer spinoff'. I also found out that the backdoor pilot is going nowhere. All plans have been binned.

But, that's not all.

My search also led me to the news that The Equalizer itself has been cancelled after five seasons.

That means, as of right now, I only have two more episodes to watch.

I am quite gutted, to be fair. I had enjoyed this 21st Century TV reboot. I genuinely thought it had more legs.

That means SWAT and now  The Equalizer will no longer be on my watchlist next year.
