One of Britain's best exports to foreign wrestling territories like Japan, Canada and the USA - Tom Billington - has passed away at the age of sixty years old.
Many people - especially those who followed pro wrestling during its initial boom period in the early WrestleMania days - are sure to remember Billington as part of the British Bulldogs tag team. He and Davey Boy Smith won the WWF Tag Team Championship at the second WrestleMania.
Following a real-life falling out, the pair went their separate ways. Smith's star rose in the early 1990s before passing away in 2002. Billington, who had handful-upon-handful of legendary bouts in Japan, ended up confined to a wheelchair by the mid-90s.
Despite having some great outings during his WWF tenure, Billington's best work came in the Canadian and Japanese rings. I plan to watch some on New Japan World later on today.
By the way, Billington's autobiography - Pure Dynamite - is well worth seeking out if you haven't read it.
