In yesterday's post, I wrote about Manchester United firing Jose Mourinho and mentioned that I had a feeling Zinedine Zidane would end up taking over in the summer.
After publishing the post, I placed a bet on Zidane to be the next boss. After placing the wager - I read a blurb on the website that read the next permanent manager - as defined per the rules of the bookmaker I placed the bet - is the boss who manages the team for ten competitive games.
Knowing that United were going to have an interim until the summer, I knew my bet was done for. I also knew - from the article - that the caretaker would be someone who had ties to the club.
I placed a few bets on the following names - Roy Keane, Steve Bruce, Gary Neville, Mark Hughes and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.
As has now been confirmed, Solksjaer has been given the temporary post. I had him at 50/1.
After seeing how his Premier League managerial career went at Cardiff City a few years ago, I'm due an excruciating wait for his first ten games in charge to come and go.
I refuse to consider this bet a winner until then.
