GLOW Gets A Green Light

I have been going back-and-forth on whether to finally cave in and purchase a subscription to Netflix.

Programmes like the two seasons of Daredevil and the currently in production - The Punisher - have been the things tempting me.

Until yesterday.

There's a new series that has been given the green light and I am definitely interested.

Apparently, the streaming movie service has ordered ten episodes of a comedy titled GLOW.

If you're a wrestling fan from the 1980s, you'll probably see the four capitalised letters and think back to the campy female wrestling group. And you know what? You will be almost there.

GLOW is going to be a comedy series loosely based on the promotion. According to reports it'll be about a lady who tries to make ends meet by becoming a wrestler on the GLOW circuit.

Hopefully it'll be set in the eighties and there will be actors recreating the characters from the promotion.

I loved GLOW when I was a kid. In fact, it was the very first thing I watched when we had a satellite hooked up to our television back in the late 1980s. I wrote about it back in 2013.

And I have no reservations about this thing being a comedy. 21 Jump Street reboots, yes. GLOW, no.

I think this could be great.
