Creed's Age

In yesterday's post, I applauded and looked forward to the upcoming movie - Creed.

If you don't know what it is, it's a spin-off to the Rocky movies. The title character is the son of Rocky Balboa's original opponent, Apollo.

After heaping praise on it yesterday, it's now time to address the elephant in the room.

I was originally under the impression that the character was going to be Apollo's grandson. This - as I noted - is not the case. It's his son.

His son.

In the Rocky series, Apollo died in the fourth installment. This was produced in 1985. That's thirty years ago. From what I can recall, Adonis was a small child. He did exist in the story.

But, think of how old he is. Isn't he a little too old to be looking for Rocky's help to learn to box? This is, of course, if that's how the story goes.

But then again - what am I doing worrying? The Rocky movies do have history when it comes to ageing.

Rocky left his young son to head over to Russia to fight Ivan Drago in Rocky IV. At the beginning of Rocky V, the plan from Russia landed and Rocky was met by a teenager. The kid had gained at least seven years.

If they found a way to make Rocky's son age, I'm sure there must be something out there to preserve young Adonis Creed.

Facetiousness aside, I still am looking forward to the movie. I can and will overlook the age thing.

I hope!
