Gambling Issues

On good days, I have more than one topic to write about and it's usually a task to decide what to write about first. As I type this, I have two things I'd like to write about today. Both involve betting so it's a 2 for 1 special.

I'll start with the most topical.

When this post gets published, the WWE Royal Rumble event will be an hour from starting. I just wanted to make note that off-shore sports books that had lines on the CM Punk versus The Rock match had Punk as the favourite when the odds were released.

I don't know how US odds work. However, here are the opening and closing odds:

CM Punk opened -230 closed +600
The Rock opened +170 closed -1200

I'm unsure how accurate these odds are as I have copied them from a message board.

I think the way these odds work is like this. With the plus number you have to bet $100 to win the amount. With a minus, you have to lay that amount to win $100. If that is the case, you need rocks (pin intended) in your head to risk $1200 to make $100 profit.

I didn't end up having any bets on football over the weekend. Seeing the scores, I'm glad I didn't.

The only American football game to bet on was the Pro Bowl and I believe you have to be a degenerate to bet on what is the most unappealing game to watch. It's not worth the time to watch it let alone bet on it.
