A Plan Unchanged

It's good to see that World Wrestling Entertainment did the right thing on Sunday night.

The Royal Rumble saw The Rock claim the WWE title and John Cena earn a title shot at WrestleMania XXIX after winning the Royal Rumble battle royal.

With another pay-per-view sandwiched in between this past Sunday and April 7th, I had a feeling there would be a diversion and the title bout between Cena and The Rock would still be up in the air until the final build towards Mania once February's Elimination Chamber show had concluded.

There seems to have been a lot of people on the Internet angry that Dwayne Johnson won the belt and Cena was victorious in the Rumble. .

It doesn't matter (pun intended) how many times The Rock is going to defend his title before WrestleMania because him doing promotional work for his new G.I. Joe movie at the same time as hyping WrestleMania could potentially lead to more mainstream interest.

Wrestling is a business, at the end of the day. Rock as champion is going to do a lot of good for the short time he is world champion.

There's also the obvious note that The Rock versus John Cena II has the potential to be the biggest money match in history.

At the risk of sounding repetitive - it's a business.

And the best business is made when everything makes sense.

As for the show itself - I didn't watch it so cannot comment on the matches. It looks to have had a lot of thumbs up from viewers, though.
