Money Back

I sat down ready to watch the Champions' League final last night and - as the players were walking onto the pitch - I decided to make a last minute bet.

I had made a personal vow not to bother betting until next season but I thought I would enjoy the game more if I had a few pounds on.

Paddy Power had an offer on where - if Barcelona won in 90 minutes - they would refund all losing correct score, 1st and last goalscorer and scorecast bets.

I deposited £10 and laid out a number of £1 singles on first goalscorers and correct scores.

I favoured Manchester United in the betting figuring that, if they won, I was going to make something and - if they lost - I was going to get a refund, anyway.

When Pepe scored the initial goal of the game I saw a £10 return as I had a pound on him at 9/1. So, from then on in, I had everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Manchester United losing ensured that all the remaining bets were refunded to me.

Nine pounds profit.

Not bad for a last minute mind-changer.
