I entered the £2 qualifier for the William Hill Grand Prix at 7:15 this evening. The top six players were to proceed to the 11:15pm qualifier to enter the final for this Sunday.
I was playing well and had managed to make it into the top bracket by the first break.
And then it all went downhill.
There was a player called Four_King and he had a low chip count. I put him all-in when I had a pair of aces and he had hit a king on the Flop whilst holding Big Slick (AK).
The first thought I had when I saw his cards was 'I bet he hits a king now.' My words proved to be prophetic as a king came on the Turn.
With my chip count heavily dented and on the Big Blind I decided to attempt at a bluff and typed 'This is Bull!' in the text and then went all-in when I was holding a pair of eights. So, it was a semi-bluff of sorts. There was one caller. He turned over his cards.
Queens!
The flop was three 3's. A Full House for both of us but not the best one for me.
I ended in tenth place; missing the qualification by four spots. I keep getting closer to the goal, though. I am playing good cards at the moment it just seems that the board isn't helping me out as I would like it to.
There was no other way I could have played that hand with aces. It was sink or swim.
And I'm still drenched.
