Ian Smith Leaving Neighbours Due To Tragic Diagnosis

I had a bunch of ideas to write about for today's post, but some news out of Australia put paid to those ideas for now.

A few minutes ago, I read that Ian Smith - famous for playing Harold Bishop in Neighbours - has announced that he will be leaving the series because he has terminal cancer.

Smith is a living legend when it comes to Neighbours. Harold is one of the most iconic characters in the soap's history.

The programme makers have announced that Harold will be given a a send off fitting for the actor and his character. The news also announced that Anne Charleston - who played Madge Bishop - will also return to Neighbours for those scenes.

I think it's safe to bet Harold will pass away and he'll be reunited, once again, with Madge. I picture it similar to how Jack Duckworth left Coronation Street with both he and Vera being reunited.

Truly sorry to hear about Ian Smith. He was kind of a fixture for part of my childhood, my later teens and very long and very short spells during my adulthood.
