I watched a bunch of livestreams that were following Hurricane Milton's approach on Florida overnight.
It was a scary, yet fascinating, viewing experience.
One of the live feeds had a camera positioned somewhere in Key West a short time before the hurricane struck. It was looking at a point where people could stand and watch the water. However, the waves were coming in fast and drenching the people.
Yes, there were people still standing there with the oncoming threat. I'm talking families with young children seemingly at that point with the waves coming in. Head shaking.
I closed out my viewing by falling asleep to a handful of storm chasers right in the middle of the storm. As noted, it was fascinating. But, it made me wonder whether the thrill of the chase is worth it when they're putting their lives - and others! - on the line.
