The Acolyte is interesting because it is set one hundred years before the Skywalker Saga and falls in the latter part of the 'High Republic' era which has been the focus of recent novels and comic books in the Star Wars universe.
It also isn't your typical Star Wars series.
If I had to place it in a genre of its own, I'd say it's a 'crime thriller' because there are murders, an evil twin and a group of lawmakers looking to bring justice to the galaxy. It's more than that, however.
I came away from the opening two episodes intrigued enough to want to watch the rest of the series. To be fair, I believe I would have still wanted to see the rest even if I wasn't satisfied after watching the premiere episodes.
The lead Jedi in this is played by Lee Jung-jae from Squid Game. Speaking of which - that brought up another thing I failed to mention when trying to determine a proper genre for this programme - there are elements of martial arts to The Acolyte as well.
It's a mixed genre offering, but - then again - isn't every other Star Wars product a combination of other genres? I'd argue so!
So, yes - I will be sticking with it.
