I noticed that Sainsbury's publishes its own monthly Codewords puzzle magazine a few days ago, so - naturally - I had to give it a go.
The issue I picked up was number 50, so I must have been living under a rock not to have known about these mags.
The first thing I did, after opening the publication, was try out the smaller codeword puzzle to win a £50 gift card.
I was able to do that one. I didn't time myself, however.
The following day, with the entry sent off, I attempted the third puzzle in the book (I couldn't do the second one because I had to cut out part of puzzle 1 to send off).
I was crap.
I made an early mistake and gave up.
It had been quite a while since I did Codeword puzzles on a regular basis. The next puzzle I attempted, a few days later, was a success.
I completed it in twenty-four minutes and thirty-one seconds. That was somewhat higher than my target of 'Below Twenty minutes'.
Rustiness. That's all it was.
Or was it?
I tried another puzzle on Tuesday. That one came to 21:04. As for yesterday's - well, that was 23:50.
Maybe it isn't rustiness after all. Maybe it's because I'm getting old.
