It's nothing serious. I'm simply trying to get a first passport for a family member. However, I have had to ask for clarification on a few things.
The wait for a response went longer than I was initially given. When I chased it up, they responded fairly quickly. However, their answer was not clear enough. I remained at the same, misinformed, spot I had been a week earlier.
I fired off a reply asking the Passport Office if their response was done by AI. It was the only thing I could think of. As well as that, I repeated my question.
I obviously don't know if the reply was computer generated, but I sense it was. And - as I replied asking whether it was AI - I thought to myself 'We, as humans, will ask this question a lot in the imminent future with the way businesses have embraced AI'.
An hour or so after questioning whether the Passport Office had communicated a reply by computer, I had a phone call by a real person.
The lady on the other end of the phone was extremely helpful and gave thorough advice to assist my family member. I left the conversation with a clear idea on where things stood.
Humans still have a purpose in the business world.
For now.
For now?
