I Try New Limited Edition Walkers Crisps

Whilst watching YouTube earlier this week, I came across an advert for a trio of limited edition Walkers Crisps that can now be found on the shelves. I immediately made note of the items and managed to find them across a couple of shops.

The special, limited edition, run sees Walkers add some iconic flavours to its regular crisps. They have introduced crisps with flavours of Doritos, Monster Munch and Wotsits.

Doritos Chilli Heatwave Flavour
Earlier this year, I wrote that Chilli Heatwave is one of my favourite flavours from the tortilla chip brand. So, it comes as no surprise to see that I was keen to sample the Walkers Crisps bearing the 'Doritos Chilli Heatwave' taste.

These crisps did live up to their billing. The flavour tasted - and was thus reminiscent - of  the chips.

It sure was a peculiar sensation to have the chilli heatwave on something other than a nacho. All in a good way, I should add.

Pickled Onion Monster Munch Flavour
If Doritos Chilli Heatwave could find its way as my number two Doritos flavour (depending on my mood), Pickled Onion could equally make a strong case to be my go to Monster Munch flavour. It truly is a toss up between that and Roast Beef.

Unfortunately, I didn't really feel that I got the 'Pickled Onion Monster Munch' sensation when I tasted these crisps.

I suppose - on initial reflection - it's likely due to being accustomed to tasting this flavour in a big, chunky, potato claw.

However, there is another HUGE reason, and this could be best explained when I detail my opinion of the Cheesy Wotsits flavoured crisps.

Cheesy Wotsits Flavour
The idea of having crisps which taste like Cheesy Wotsits sounds good on paper. That's why I hunted down these crisps as soon as I knew of their existence. However, there is something that made 66.6% of this promotion pointless.

We've had 2 of these before.

The crisps bearing the Pickled Onion Monster Munch logo tasted not too dissimilar to the pickled onion version of Walkers Crisps that are still out in shops.

As for those with the Wotsits logo? Well - those reminded me of Walkers' Toasted Cheese crisps that were discontinued, but made a short-lived reappearance eight years ago.

Toasted Cheese Walkers reminds me of my school days, so I am not going to hate on those crisps. Ever!

Of the three, Doritos Chilli Heatwave flavour is the only crisps that did what they were meant to do by reminding me of the tortilla chips. The other two reminded me of previous incarnations Walkers Crisps.

I suppose that means Doritos Chilli Heatwave wins this triple threat match via a technicality.

If we're playing a game of 'would you go out of your way to try these again?' then that win goes to the Wotsits flavour only because the taste of Walkers Toasted Cheese crisps sends me down Memory Lane.
