Seeing Red

I don't think I've ever witnessed three red cards being brandished within sixty seconds in a football game before yesterday.

The historic moment, if you can call it that, occurred in the seventy-second minute of the Manchester United versus Fulham FA Cup quarter final game.

Fulham were leading by a goal, but Willian handballed in the area to prevent United from levelling it up.

The video referee confirmed Willian's handball. This resulted in the first red. Fulham's boss - Marco Silva - and striker, Aleksander Mitrovic, were also shown red in the immediate aftermath with the latter expelled for putting his hands on referee, Chris Kavanagh, when arguing about the penalty decision.

Like I stated above - that was the first time I can recall seeing three red cards within a minute. However, I am open to being corrected because - somewhere in the back of mind - I am sure that there has been something bigger that I am forgetting.

United went on to win the game 3-1.
