My NFL spreadsheet is currently at 7-7 in picking the sides and totals in Thursday night NFL games.
Last week, it went 1-1 by losing on the Under in the Baltimore .vs. Tampa Bay game. However, it did correctly pick Baltimore to cover as +1.5 underdogs. The Ravens won outright with a score of 27-22.
For this week's edition of Thursday Night Football, the Philadelphia Eagles will travel to Houston.
My spreadsheet has the Eagles winning the game by nine points. However, with the spread at fourteen, the spreadsheet is pointing to Houston +14.
As far as the total goes - it's quite close. The spreadsheet predicts the game will have a total of forty-five points. The line is 45.5 as of the time of writing, therefore it's calling for the under.
As I have been doing each week, I'll now take a look over a database of results dating back to the 2001 season to see if there are any trends to look out for in the meetings between these two teams. Here's what I've found.
There is nothing there to make me confident in taking either of the plays suggested by the spreadsheet.
- The Texans are 1-4 against the spread
- Texans are 1-3 as underdogs
- The Texans are 0-2 as underdogs in Houston
- The Under is 1-3-1 in all meetings
- The Under is 1-1 in meetings played in Houston
