The world of professional wrestling is in mourning today following the news that Antonio Inoki has passed away after a long illness.
Inoki is one of the most iconic names in the sport, especially in his home country of Japan.
Mainstream news has ran with the story on Inoki's passing. The main focus - in those stories - has unsurprisingly been on the showdown Inoki had against Muhammad Ali in June 1976. Many claim it was the first mixed martial arts match because it was contested between a boxer and wrestler.
For me - I'll remember Inoki for being the founder of one of my favourite professional wrestling companies ever: NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling).
NJPW is currently celebrating its fiftieth year in business. It seems somewhat fitting, yet tragic, that Inoki passed away on the golden anniversary of the promotion.
