This new film - named A Christmas Story Christmas - will debut on HBO Max in November and will see Ralphie Parker return home many years after the events of the original film.
I surmise that, with A Christmas Story taking place in the late '30s to early '40s, they'd have to write this one to take place sometime during the 1970's.
The big news is that Peter Billingsley - who played Ralphie in the 1983 movie - will reprise the role.
Anyone who has followed this blog at all, especially during Christmastime, will know that I am a huge fan of A Christmas Story and its writer - Jean Shepherd.
I am obviously hoping to be able to watch this film. However, with it being on HBO Max, I am not sure if it'll end up finding its way to television over here in 2022.
HBO Max content finds its way to Sky TV in the UK. Therefore, I am holding out hope that it is part of Sky Cinema's Christmas coverage. The one thing which makes me think that I have slim hopes is the fact that A Christmas Story is not as big a deal here in the UK as it is in the USA.
Over there, the movie is aired 24/7 on TNT during Christmas. I still find it amazing they do that.
I'll find a way to watch it, though. Even if it means having to wait a year or more.
