The Drago Project

A couple of weeks ago, when I was in the midst of writing daily posts about Neighbours, I came across a story that I wanted to write about. 

I have finally remembered to do just that.

In the week of note, I read - in one of the news sites I frequent - that MGM is planning to release a new spinoff to the Rocky movies.

This one will focus on Ivan Drago, who was the antagonist in 1985's Rocky IV and was a key character in another Rocky spinoff movie - Creed II.

In 2019, I praised Creed II especially for its reintroduction of Drago to the Rocky universe. I am obviously intrigued to see what becomes of this new Drago project.

There is an elephant in the room, though.

Reflecting on current world events, there seems to be a fine line between this movie idea being either a perfect or imperfect idea considering Drago was a Russian powerhouse in the 1980s, but - when we meet him again in the 21st Century - he has been exiled and living in the Ukraine after the Soviet Union disowned the boxer following his loss to Rocky Balboa on Christmas Day 1985.
