equinoxx.info: Cheltenham 2021: Day 1

It's time for this year's Cheltenham Festival and that means it's also time for the annual Cheltenham Festival posts that I've been doing here for most, but not all, of the fifteen years I've been blogging.

As per usual, I've done a lot of cramming. In fact, I'd like to state that I've done more this year than any other year. Whether that turns out to be a good thing won't be known until Friday evening.

Here are my picks for today along with some other bets that include runners for other races over the coming days.

Tuesday's Bets

1:20PM Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle

I have backed Metier to win with a special offer from Sky Bet. In the offer, losing bets - up to the value of £10 - will be refunded. So, I am looking to win or break even here.

As well as Metier, I have a £2.50 each-way free bet on Ballyadam with another firm.

1:55PM Sporting Life Arkle Chase

You'll see below that I've added Shishkin to an each-way Lucky 15 bet I've placed for the week's races.

2:30PM Ultima Handicap Chase

I had a free £5 bet, so had a gamble on One For The Team to win.

3:05PM Unibet Champion Hurdle

I have a couple of horses in this race.

First, I have Honeysuckle to win. I have £8 on her to win with Bet365 and then there is another firm I have signed up for this week that is offering the horse at 33/1 to new customers (minimum stake £1). If I win, the additional money above the price will be paid out as free bets, so - if I am fortunate - I'll have a bit of a bankroll for the next few days.

Honeysuckle is also in a £1 each-way double along with Mister Fisher in Thursday's Ryanair Chase (see below).

The other bet I have is £1.50 each-way on Sharjah at 12/1.

3:40PM Close Brothers Mares' Hurdle

When I was doing research on this race, I found out that 'Willie Mullins has trained seven of the last ten winners'. So, I looked at the horses that have been trained by Mullins that appear in this race. They are: Concertista (FAV), Great White Shark and My Sister Sarah.

Another thing I read is that a horse priced at 16/1 or higher has finished in the top three nine times out of the last ten races. Knowing this, I've passed on the favourite and gone for small each-way punts on Great White Shark and My Sister Sarah at 18/1 and 40/1 respectively.

4:15PM Boodles Juvenile Handicap

As you can see below, I added Busselton to a £1 each-way Lucky 15.

4:50PM National Hunt Novices' Chase

I have punted £4 each-way on Next Destination to win this one.
