Cheltenham 2021: The Aftermath

Yet another fluke occurred when it came to my wagering on the Cheltenham Festival.

Going into the final day, I was £4.28 in the black. However, I ended up spending £101 in total wagers on the seven races that concluded the festival.

I returned £9 with Adagio finishing second in the opener. I then had to wait until Minella Indo won the Gold Cup to bring in an additional £38.40.

I had a small punt on Ellimay to win the penultimate race of the day - the Paddy Power Mares' Chase. I needed a win, but she came in second place to bring back £2.48 from the £4 I gambled on her.

And then - it all came down to the last race of the day. If you read yesterday's post, you'll be aware that I had Galopin Des Champs in a £1 each-way Lucky 15 (the other three selections lost) as well as a £3 each-way single.

The horse won, bringing me £20 back in the Lucky 15 (a loss of a tenner) and £36 for the single.

I closed the day £4.88 in the black. I was £9.16 up overall.

I cannot recall how many times I've been in a poor position only to get a win in the final race to bring victory from the jaws of defeat.

Here's how the week went:

Tue: -22.95
Wed: -1.94
Thu: +29.17
Fri: +4.88
