MMA In NY

I spent yesterday evening watching the New York State Assembly live feed.

No, I don't do this all the time. I did last night because they were voting on whether Mixed Martial Arts should become legal in New York.

There were some crazy reasons brought forward by some of the people who were voting against. One woman was going on about it being a bare-knuckle sport. Her research evidently didn't go so far as to acknowledge that the fighters wear gloves.

With all that said, I know sports like fighting aren't going to appease some. However, the state does sanction boxing. I cannot see why they should rule out a sport like MMA.

The end result was 113-25 in favour.

Expect some huge UFC events from Madison Square Garden in the future.
