Shocked.
That's how I felt when I read that George Lucas had sold his company - LucasFilm - to Disney for four billion dollars.
This shock was amped up as I read further into the news story and noticed that Disney were planning to produce another trilogy of Star Wars films.
I grew up a Star Wars fan. I am still a Star Wars fan. Sort of.
The prequels that started coming out in 1999 were over-hyped nonsense. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Episode III.
As for the other two? Pah.
So, when I read that bit about an Episode VII coming out in 2015, the feeling of shock was a 'great but let's be cautious about this' one rather than a 'Wow, I cannot wait!'
A lot of Star Wars literature has been published since Return of the Jedi in 1983. Some of these spin-off books have furthered the story beyond the Luke Skywalker/Princess Leia generation. For example, Han Solo and Princess Leia are parents to Jedi twins in books and comic books that have been published since we last saw the second Death Star blow up on the silver screen.
It will be interesting to see whether the new trilogy will stay true to the Star Wars canon or go off in an entirely different route.
Here's hoping the third Death Star doesn't have mouse ears.
