It's one hundred years ago today since the Titanic departed Southampton on its ill-fated journey.
I first became interested in the Titanic story in the simmer of 1995. I was staying at my cousin's home and her husband - who works at sea - had a collection of books about the ship.
I've had a passive interest in the subject ever since.
When the film of Titanic was released in early 1998, myself and a selection of friends went to see it. I can still remember how eye opening it was. I cannot even explain it. I recall the three of us walking home from the cinema in a quiet awe.
There seems to have been a lot of documentaries about Titanic on the television recently. I've recorded them and hope to see a few over the next few days.
