My aunt gave my family a tip on a horse in a meeting yesterday.
It was 20/1 so I wasn't totally confident on its chances. Still, I had a small flutter and sent off texts to two of my friends telling them the tip.
One of my friends placed a special bet on the horse. If it won, he would have made £800, if it finished in second place the prize would have been £180. A third place finish would have netted thirty pounds.
I watched the race and the horse ran well.
But not well enough.
It finished in second place.
My friend was quids in and I was sort of gutted for him that it didn't win. With that said, it was still a good return from a good tip.
As for my tip for the Grand National? There's always next year, I suppose.
