First Thoughts On WrestleMania XXVIII

It has just gone 4am on Monday morning and WrestleMania XXVIII has finished.

And then I gave up.

I had an intention to write something as soon as WrestleMania had concluded before I headed off to sleep but sleep deprivation carrying over from Saturday put paid to it. In the end, all I could muster up was an opening sentence which shall remain for this, the hopefully more awake after thoughts on the show.

I loved WrestleMania.

My favourite match of the night goes to The Undertaker and Triple H. You have to throw Shawn Michaels into the credits for this one, too. All three made the match. Hell, the people doing the cameras - and especially the microphones - deserve some credit. The drama was furthered just by hearing Michaels asking Undertaker if he was ready to give up as well as telling Triple H to make a pin to end it.

I placed £70 on the match. I knew Undertaker wasn't going to lose so thought it was a fun investment. It should be pointed out that everyone else who knew I had placed that amount on the bout thought I was mad!

The Rock won his face-off with John Cena. I guess what I posted on Sunday came off. I don't have a clue what happens now with these two. I guess there really is going to be a rematch or two, though.

The most disappointing match was the opener.

I know Sheamus needed to have looked good in his world heavyweight championship victory. The question I have is should Daniel Bryan have looked so bad in his seventeen (or was it eighteen?) second loss? Quite the letdown.

And on the subject of letdowns - what was all this Brock Lesnar stuff?

It was rumoured all weekend that he was in Miami and was at the hotel. The gossip even had him as signed on a one-year deal with limited dates yet he didn't make an appearance at the show.

I am not doubting those that say he was there and had signed some sort of contract. I am just suspicious how these rumours were let out a few days before the event. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks the rumours were let out to try and get some last minute curiosity viewers.

I wonder what happens on tonight's edition of Raw. Will we get a match announced for next year's WrestleMania? I guess we'll find out in a few.
