Cheltenham 2012 Day One & A Look At Day Two

If you've been following this blog for a while, you'll be aware that I have a few bets during the Cheltenham Festival and write about how I did.

I realised I was never any good at picking the horses so make my selections using the tipsters featured in newspapers and online.

For this year, I've decided to be conservative with what I spend.

Last year's Cheltenham betting was silly. I don't know how much it was I was down by the fourth day (around £80 maybe) but I was able to turn things around on the Friday and cut my losses to near £2.

I'm not doing that this year. And I started this year off by spending free bets.

I received a free £10 bet and used it to place a 5p each-way Lucky 63 on six races (£6.30). This is what happened:

Race 1 - Lost
Race 2 - Placed
Race 3 - Placed
Race 4 - Lost
Race 5 - Won
Race 6 - Lost

I had 42p returned to me from the bet. So, it's sort of profit and not when you consider I was playing with free cash. I still have £4.12 to play with.

Wednesday

If I have written a post - as I did last night - I usually set them to be published at 12am so they can be on for the entire day.
If you've seen the end of the movie,
you'll know we weren't being cruel

I made the decision late last night to hold off from the 12am publishing because I have decided to break from superstition and tell you which horses I have selected for today's card.

When I was looking at the horses running, I noticed that Carlito Brigante named after the title character of my favourite movie - Carlito's Way - was running in the 4pm race. There was no way I was not going to add him to my bet. Every other horse was selected using the process I mentioned above.

1:30pm - Teaforthree 11/2
2:05pm - Simonsig 9/4
2:40pm - Bobs Worth 4/1
3:20pm - Sizing Europe 4/5
4:00pm - Carlito Brigante 12/1
4:40pm - Vendor 7/2
5:15pm - New Year's Eve 11/2
