Zenyatta Goes For 20

Last year, I was impressed with Zenyatta's run in the Breeders' Cup Classic horse race. The filly was in a race for male horses and won.

The win was even more incredible when you factor in she was losing for the majority of the race.

In this year's Classic, she was in her twentieth race and aiming for her twentieth win. The celebrity horse had the world watching in the hope of seeing history take place.

Just like last year, the horse started off slow. I sat there watching, reminding myself of how bad it was looking the last time she was in the race.

And then she was in contention to win..

But failed.

Zenyatta finished in second place losing to Blame.

Ironically, there is a lot of blame being directed towards Zenyatta's jockey - Mike Smith - for the way he handled the race. As I don't know much about horse racing, I'll refrain from criticising him.

I was just a fair-weather sports fan looking for something historic to see. I didn't find what I was looking for.

Plans to make a movie on Zenyatta should still be on the drawing board. It's just going to have to end unhappily ever after.
