Luna Vachon

It's another one of those posts.

Luna Vachon, professional wrestler, valet and member of the famous Vachon family, was found dead yesterday.

I first saw her when she came out behind Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania IX and ended up beating up on Michaels' former valet, Sherri Martel. The two would end up in a program together which lasted the summer of that year.

She then went on to manage Bam Bam Bigelow.

It was when she was managing the 'Beast from the East' that I saw her live and in person at the Cardiff International Arena.

Bigelow wrestled Earthquake that night in one of the matches that I remember fondly as both the competitors ended up breaking down in laughter while trying to wrestle each other. I'm not sure what happened but seeing these two trying to work a match and remain in character but failing is so funny.

Sadly, with the news of Vachon passing, all three of these people from that match are no longer with us.

Just a few days ago, I read that Mick Foley was urging fans to send donated pictures and memorabilia to a PO Box for Luna Vachon as her home had burnt down and she lost all of the mementos she had collected from her career.

I thought it would have been nice to send her a few of the pictures I had taken from the match in Cardiff but never got around to scanning them.

Her death is another in a long line - a line of stars I grew up watching.

Each one dimming far sooner than they should be.
