On last night's episode of ECW, Vince McMahon announced that the brand would dissolve in three weeks.
And I am glad.
This wasn't Extreme Championship Wrestling - it was WWE.
The real ECW was the third popular wrestling company during the last wrestling boom and ended up bankrupt in early 2001.
McMahon bought the initials and the tape library and then - in 2005 he, along with a number of former ECW talent, made a one-night nostalgia pay-per-view entitled One Night Stand.
One Night Stand was so popular that in 2006 another event was held - this also coincided with ECW being brought back as a full-time brand but obviously under the WWE umbrella.
ECW died in 2001 as far as I'm concerned. Anything WWE produced with the ECW was not the real article.
So, I am glad they are rebranding this show.
