The Final Round

I just listened to the final round of the Leroy's Money Talks Invitational contest that I have followed every Friday night for the past few months.

The contest pits some of Las Vegas' top gamblers in a winner-takes-all tournament.

Each bettor staked five thousand dollars and were seeded into games against each other since the beginning of the football season.

Each week, on the radio and live from a Hooters casino somewhere in Vegas, two of these gamblers would give out seven picks for the upcoming weekend and the winner progresses to the next round.

In the event of a tie, both contestant's seventh pick is their 'best bet' which works as the tiebreaker.

The two finalists in this season's tournament are Steve Fezzik, a sports handicapper who I respect, against Lance Blankenship - an amateur gambler who has overcome some tough opposition this season.

The picks for these two contestants are below:

Steve Fezzik's picks

1) Wyoming +11
2) Over 57 in Middle Tennessee vs South Mississippi
3) Pittsburgh Steelers -2
4) Carolina Panthers +10
5) Cleveland @ Kansas City over 37
6) Tennessee Titans -3
7) Washington Redskins +3

Lance Blankenship's picks

1) Central Florida +2.5
2) Dallas Cowboys +7
3) Dallas @New Orleans over 53.5
4) Green Bay Packers +2
5) San Francisco 49ers +8
6) San Francisco @ Philadelphia under 42
7) Oakland +14
