The deal is on the table for Michael Owen.
Newcastle United have offered him a new contract but one of the most notable changes to his current one is it's for less money.
And rightfully so.
The guy isn't worth what he is currently on. Hell, I don't even think he is worth what he is being offered.
He has spent more time in the fitness room than he has on the score-sheet since he joined the club in 2005 and it would be - pardon the pun - unwise for the owners and management team to offer him more than what he earned in those three years.
I doubt he'll sign the new deal. He'll find a better offer somewhere else. His words to the club will echo those of the supporters who thought he was the next black and white hope.
Thanks, but no thanks.
