Sam Is Not The Man

When Sam Allardyce brought Joey Barton to Newcastle United he vowed he would tame the talented player. Months later, Barton is behind bars and Allardyce is close to losing his job due to results not going his way.

Joey Barton was arrested on Boxing Day following an altercation in Liverpool. He was refused bail as he was already out on bail terms. He will be brought before a magistrates court on January 3rd which means he will be unable to play in Newcastle's next two fixtures.

So - Allardyce failed to tame him.

When the manager signed Barton in the Summer I scratched my head. Barton was already in trouble with the law at the time of his transfer and he could have faced a prison term so the Magpies had a release clause in their contract with the player as an insurance measure. I couldn't see the reward in this risk of signing him.

Sure - Barton is a good player but his demons far outweigh this ability. He has been given chance upon chance and has always failed. It's about time the higher-ups gave up on him. He is a waste of patience.

Speaking of patience, I am also losing it with Sam Allardyce. He was not the man to tame Joey Barton and by the end of this season we could be saying he was not the man to turn around Newcastle United.
