A Demented Rant

As I mentioned yesterday, I have been in contact with Damian Demento the former WWE wrestler. It seems that this contact has now been ended due to a rant he made on his Youtube page yesterday.

Demento was a part of the WWF in late 1992 to some time in 1993. His gimmick was that he heard voices in his head and hailed from 'the outer reaches of your mind'. To be honest - it was a weird gimmick but it did fit in well with the cast of characters the WWF were creating back in the early 1990's.

I was on Youtube a week ago and randomly typed 'Damian Demento' into its search engine and a load of videos came up. I then noticed the real Damian Demento was on there using the nickname 'theoriginaldemento' so I clicked on his video page to see what he had on there.

Demento's page contained tons of clips of him showing his artwork. He had some unique paintings and sculptures.

With the fifteenth anniversary of Raw being celebrated this past Monday I decided to ask Damian whether he was going to be on the episode as the company was bringing back some of their former stars.

He replied to me saying he wasn't going to be there but was going to have a few drinks and do a sculpture instead. I responded the following morning asking whether he managed to watch it. He got back to me saying he was going to do a video blog about it later.

A few hours later I clicked back on Youtube and noticed he had left his prmised blog.

He claimed to have been sickened at the opening segment which featured Vince McMahon being accused of having sexual relations with a number of wrestling personalities. The real-life homosexual Pat Patterson and Steve 'Brooklyn Brawler' Lombardi were included in this angle and that was where Demento found offence. He said he turned the show off after seeing this part of the episode. His rant continued when he turned his attention to wrestling fans in general saying that the majority of the people who attended the show were gay as well.

I take his comments as a sign of his annoyance at not being asked to appear at the show. That's the only reasoning I can think of for this sign of bitterness.

The video of this rant was gone less than an hour after I saw it. His account had been closed as well. Whether it was Youtube or the man himself who closed down the page is a question I cannot answer.

I'm sure Damian or his voices can answer, though!
